We are currently seeking a Project Leader for our client's location in Atlanta, Georgia. The ideal candidate will serve as a lead mechanical engineer on large Baggage Handling projects. A solid experience in the industry is essential.
Job Description
The Project Leader Mechanical Engineering role is responsible for all engineering tasks required to complete a project. He/she will serve as a lead mechanical engineer on large Baggage Handling projects. A solid experience in the industry is essential.
Job Tasks and Duties:
- Serve as a Lead Mechanical Engineer on large and complex Baggage Handling projects
- Generate project planning of all engineering tasks required to complete a project and assign resource needs and required durations
- Manage project resources to ensure tasks are completed on time, within budget and with a high level of quality
- Manage and control all cost and budget issues within large projects
- Lead, coach and train Engineers
- Focus on process multi disciplinary improvements
- Work in concert with other departments; controls engineering, supply chain, project management, site management - to ensure complete system design and functionality is achieved
- Reports to the Director of Engineering

Base Salary: $70,000 - $85,000
Candidate Profile
- BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar discipline
- 5 or more years experience as a Lead Mechanical Engineer guiding a team of engineers for the realization and executions of a project, ideally in Baggage handling but other material handling or construction type projects could be applicable
- Capable of supporting multiple projects in the engineering phase
- Able to manage conflicts and relationships within project team as well as with other disciplines
- Responsible (technical scope, engineering planning, cost and budget control) for the mechanical portion of large and complex projects
- Able to supervise and direct a project team with Lay-out Engineers and Mechanical Project Engineers
- Is a system and concept thinker and can translate this into a detailed system design
- Able to direct a Project Manager by guiding them from the Mechanical Project Engineering standpoint
- Able to oversee all activities within a project, and can take within the scope of the project decisions in the interest of our client
- Sufficient experience working with other departments to integrate mechanical engineering effort into coordinated project success
