Our client's next step in their international strategy is to initiate sales and business development activities in the U.S.A. Therefore, we are currently seeking to fill the position of Business Development Manager USA to spearhead the U.S. business and to lead the company’s expansion on this side of the ocean.

Job description

This is a great opportunity for entrepreneurial senior sales candidates, with hands-on experience in a midsize organization. As the Business Development Manager, your main task is to facilitate the growth of our client in the U.S.A., with focus on the Express Parcel and Warehouse & Distribution Industry.

Strategic planning is a key part of this job, since it is your responsibility to develop the pipeline of new business. This requires a thorough knowledge of the American material handling industry. 

The job requires a strong entrepreneurial spirit and hunter mentality as you will be the first employee of our client in the US and therefore the key person in the further development and growth of the company in the US. The goal is to have a fully operational entity in the US in 3-5 years that can act fairly independent from the Headquarters. 

Job Summary

  • Building and cultivating relationships with existing System Integrators/End- Customers.
  • Responsible for setting up and maintaining a partner sales network.
  • The Business Development Manager is instrumental in developing and implementing a sales strategy for meeting performance targets.
  • Create, negotiate and close commercial agreements.
  • Manage the proposal development process and documentation.
  • Create monthly departmental activity report.
  • Support marketing activities, including exhibitions, mailings, etc.
  • Reports to Director Sales & Marketing at HQ in the Netherlands.


Our outstanding European-based client has been improving the intralogistics systems of its customers for over 65 years by developing and constructing automated storage systems and internal transport systems, with over 2,000 realized projects across the globe. In the Express Parcel and Warehouse & Distribution industry, our client provides automated sorting solutions based on, amongst others, their world class shoe sorting technique. In Northern Europe, they are a trusted system integrator and in the rest of the world for the most part they act as a component supplier. 

Our client is a medium-sized business with about 250 highly educated employees. This enables the organization to always be flexible towards their customers and respond to market demands in a swift and effective manner.

Candidate profile

  • Bachelor's degree in a related major at minimum; advanced degrees (i.e. MBA) preferred.
  • Entrepreneur and strong developed hunter mentality.
  • Experience with creating and executing a sales plan.
  • Excellent communication and social skills, dynamic personality combined with a thorough knowledge of the American Material Handling Industry.
  • Strong network in the American Material Handling Industry, especially the Express Parcel and Warehouse & Distribution side of it.
  • Material Handling background, including engineering skills as well as knowledge of systems integration.
  • Proven track record in sales, business development and winning new business.
  • Frequent travel is part of the job, both domestically and Internationally. (must have valid passport)
