To support and manage our client's growing U.S. based organization, we are currently seeking to fill the position of Director of Manufacturing for their production site in Hagerstown, Maryland.

This is a great opportunity for a hands-on manufacturing manager with experience in a customized metal production environment including milling, welding, quality control and safety. Besides having a good technical understanding of the metals production processes including the ability to read and understand drawings and specifications, you must have good people management skills. You thrive by creating and motivating the high performance working teams and you strive for continuous improvement in all aspects of the daily manufacturing processes. Based on your experience and skills, you know how to identify and communicate improvement opportunities to both your team and executive management. You are a quick thinker in a sometimes-hectic manufacturing environment and you are flexible with your time to address and resolve issues as they arise.

As the Director of Manufacturing, you will be given the opportunity to - with a fresh pair of eyes -further develop and structure the production team. While taking the lead in all production related innovations and material flow related projects, you maintain a close relationship with the engineering department.

Candidate profile

  • Minimum of 7 years' experience in customized metal production environment including milling, welding, quality control and safety.
  • Minimum of 3 years' managerial experience.
  • A Bachelor's Degree in a technical discipline is required with a preference for mechanical engineering. An equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered.
  • Excellent people-management and communication skills are a must to be successful in this position.
  • A desire for continuous improvement with a pragmatic approach and 'make it happen' attitude.
  • Knowledge/experience with manufacturing metrics/KPI's and manufacturing improvement methodologies and projects, such as Lean 6 Sigma and 5S implementation, would be a big plus.
