YER USA is currently searching for a Sales and Business Development Manager for our international client. This is an excellent opportunity for a technical sales professional with a long-term vision and superior customer service skills.

Job description

As the SBDM, you will be responsible for all sales and business development activities in North America for our client's largest business unit which manufactures highly specialized fabric production machinery for the textile industry. Your technical foundation and experience as a technical sales professional have enabled you to establish a proven track record of securing projects by closing deals. Your extensive experience in driving growth through complex sales cycles, including multiple stakeholders and your proven strategic creativity to find new ways of developing business and introducing new products and business models will be invaluable in the successful long-term expansion of our client's business in the U.S. and Canadian markets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Account manager for all existing and potential customers in North America that use or could use machinery of the business unit. Prepare offers and close sales contracts for new machinery, present new developments, promote aftermarket business (parts and service) at these customers. Position yourself as prime and trustworthy contact for all customers
  • Business development. Translate group and own innovation initiatives into business successes in North-America:
    • Grow business in current market by developing service products based on new business models. Take responsibility to implement and market these products, generate sales and manage the business activity.
    • Stay abreast of product and business development initiatives in group. Participate in international teams as needed. Find ways to make initiatives work in North American market. Pioneer introduction of global initiatives where North American market is seen as leading the way.
  • Act as eyes and ears on this continent in the value stream of the end-use market (brands), including upstream and downstream processes, new technologies and market trends. Translate identified opportunities into actual business development initiatives

 Reporting line:

  • You will report to the president of the U.S. subsidiary and will be part of the management team. Group has a matrix structure and you will also have an informal reporting line to Business Unit management at head-office

Candidate profile

Background and experience:

  • Approximately 10years business experience (sales, product management) in capital equipment (complex electro-mechanical machines) in North American market
  • Experience working hands-on in international company networks with face to face exposure to different cultures (in particular Western Europe)
  • Some line management, or at least multi-disciplinary project team management experience
  • Ideally experience in machinery for the textile industry. If not, in machinery making products close to consumer markets
  • Degree, ideally combining a significant technical (engineering) component with business administration qualification
  • Interested and willing to travel extensively, in USA and internationally

Personal:

  • Excellent contact builder, establishing positions of trust and respect at customers and in group network
  • Curious, eager to learn, factual and accurate, capable to process and synthesize complex  information from multiple sources
  • Capable to get things done (get help, get buy-in) without having authority
  • Strong communication skills, verbally, written, conveying information and analyses clearly and convincingly
  • Flexible and adaptive with affinity for continuous change, interest in different ways of thinking and cultures and no problems with high dynamics in travel planning
  • Language skills a plus, certainly German, also Spanish
  • Drive and leadership skills that demonstrate potential to grow in organization
