On behalf of our client ThromboGenics, a global biopharmaceutical company, YER is seeking a US Regional Business Director.

Job description

In this position, your future accountabilities will be to plan, direct and coordinate overall activities and strategies with customers within a specified geographical area. He/she is required to maintain an active and visible role with the Commercial, Market Access and Medical Affairs colleagues in order to facilitate customer interactions and pull-through programs to increase awareness and demand for JETREA®.

More in particular, you will be required to:

  • Being responsive to customer inquiries and demands generated through emails, phone calls, reports and benefit investigation notifications
  • Ensuring customers understand the logistics of the utilization of JETREA®
  • Ensuring "Benefits Investigation" processes and reimbursement is understood and mastered by customer office management
  • Developing and maintaining Key Opinion Leader relationships
  • Recruiting and developing speakers and programs
  • Coordinating and serving as a liaison between priority KOL and customer relationships and TG corporate executives
  • Communicating/collaborating with HQ and local medical team to address issues and ensure national coverage and consistent approach
  • Scheduling and attending major/national conferences
  • Partnering with Marketing and Medical Affairs on relevant Conferences to attend, facilitation of meetings, case study discussions, etc.
  • Scheduling 1:1 business meetings with key stakeholders
  • Creating synergies within accounts to enhance value of ThromboGenics and its products
  • Maintaining a high profile with professional retina organizations and societies at the state and regional level, KOLs and decision makers, etc. in collaboration with other TG personnel

This position will:

  • Require a comprehensive knowledge of the buying and billing process for Specialty Biologics, including ordering, distribution, customer handling and reimbursement
  • Travel for this position may exceed 50%
  • Building solid customer relations
  • Position includes considerable latitude to structure/manage work and travel independently, while remaining compliant with all relevant statutes, guidelines and company policies
  • Social confidence and the ability to speak in a clear and articulate manner are important
  • Ability to read behavioural cues and establish/maintain close business relations with high level health care professionals is critical
  • Ability to persuade and influence without direct control is also important


Our client, ThromboGenics is a global biopharmaceutical company, headquartered in Belgium, delivering innovative treatments for diseases of the back of the eye.  They are a leader in next-generation treatments offering the potential to prevent vision loss. They have pioneered the drug category of pharmacological vitreolysis with JETREA®, the world's first and only pharmacological treatment approved for symptomatic vitreomacular adhesion/ vitreomacular traction.

Their strategy is to broaden their global footprint as a drug development pioneer with a focus on diabetic eye disease. They continue to advance its promising pipeline of novel drug candidates in key areas of unmet medical need and are expanding their work in earlier-stage projects, searching for new pathways and compounds.

They defined a clear growth path for the US and are looking for a US Regional Business Director (preferable Chicago or Los Angeles-based).

Candidate profile

  • Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences, MBA Preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years specialty biologics/pharmaceuticals sales experience. Managed Care/Reimbursement experience is a plus
  • Proven sales performance. Preferably with proven track record of success as a sales executive leader in the biotech or rare disease market places
  • Track record of building and leading teams to sustained, ethically-achieved performance
  • Business strategy and tactical planning expertise
  • Analytical skills
  • Experience in ophthalmic pharmaceutical products (retina preferred), understanding of ophthalmology surgery trends, buy and bill sales models, experience in field sales and reimbursement, IT knowledge
  • Knowledge of compliance environment and related statutes, guidelines and company policies
  • Microsoft Office, SFA & CRM development experience
  • Preferred, not required: Secondary data sources in the pharmaceutical industry (CMS, IMS, etc)
